The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is set to transform its government operations significantly within the next two years by integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into half of its public sectors. This ambitious initiative was announced by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Prime Minister of the UAE, emphasizing the nation’s commitment to modernization through technology.
Sheikh Mohammed detailed the government’s intention to operate 50% of its services and functions via autonomous Agentic AI. This decision is part of a broader strategy aimed at improving efficiency and responsiveness in governance.
In his statement, Sheikh Mohammed indicated that this shift is more than just adopting technology; it marks the evolution of AI into a key partner in governmental operations. He remarked that AI would play a pivotal role in analyzing data, making decisions, and enhancing service delivery.
To ensure a smooth transition, all federal employees are to undergo training to become proficient in AI technologies. This initiative aims to cultivate a workforce capable of maximizing the potential of AI in government roles. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed is designated to supervise this extensive training and overall implementation.
According to Sheikh Mohammed, the effectiveness of these AI systems will be assessed through key performance indicators that measure the speed of AI adoption, quality of services provided, and the level of AI expertise among workers.
This announcement follows the UAE’s previous steps towards incorporating AI into its legislative processes. In April 2025, Sheikh Mohammed launched an AI legislative system. This innovative model enables AI to draft laws, analyze their impacts, and suggest necessary amendments.
